This specimen was lot 23105 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $1,527.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 50 Soles, 1954. NGC MS-63 PL. Mintage of only 1,839 pieces. Sharply struck, proof-like and very attractive." This denomination, struck 1950-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold five, ten, twenty and hundred soles.
