Peru 1899-JF 1/2 dinero
This medio dinero, or half dime, was struck in Lima in 1900. Most issued after 1898 were made from melted down one sol coins. Varieties and overdates abound; for 1899, a 1899/8 overdate is recorded in addition to the normal date. A earlier type, with a slightly different figure of seated Liberty, was issued 1863-64 (KM 189). The silver coin was replaced in 1918 by a copper-nickel five centavos.
