Peru 1879-YJ sol
The specimen shown is one of a series struck 1864-97 at the Lima mint for Peru. There are many varieties and subtypes of this basic design. A similar coin, KM 192-9, was struck in Santiago by the Chileans during the War of the Pacific. This date is common. Assayers YJ are recorded for 1870-80.
