The first specimen was lot 25214 in Heritage sale 3012 (New York, January 2011), where it sold for $1,265. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 8 Escudos 1863, nice lustrous AU, light adjustment marks across the date and denomination."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, 0.7596 troy oz ASW.
