CNG Lissner collection, lot 2052

This specimen was lot 2052 in Classical Numismatic Group's auction of the Robert Lissner collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $544.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Republic. 1821-present. AR 4 Reales. Pasco mint. Dated 1855 M. In NGC encapsulation graded AU 50. Deeply toned charcoal. Only two graded, one higher at AU 58. Purchased from M. Louis Teller, March 1998." The Pasco mint operated 1843-45 and 1855-57 and struck silver two, four and eight reales. This is the more common of two varieties struck in 1855.
