This specimen was lot 957 in Ponterio sale 164 (New York, January 2012), where it sold for $1,725. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 1/2 Escudo, 1820-LJP. RARE and exceptional quality. PCGS AU-58." While eight escudos from Peru are reasonably available, the smaller gold denominations are all very scarce.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.69 g, .875 fine gold, .047 troy oz AGW.
