Aureo sale 238, lot 189
This specimen was lot 189 in Aureo & Calicó sale 238 (Barcelona, November 2011), where it sold for 340 euro (about US$539 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1811. Lima. JP. 8 reales. Primer año de busto propio. Levísimos golpecitos. Rara y más así. EBC/EBC+. (eight reales of 1811, Lima mint, first year of proper bust, light marks, rare, extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1811-24 for Ferdinand VII and is common. Eight reales dated 1811 are also known with the imaginary bust of Ferdinand; these are scarce. Assayer JP is recorded for 1803-23.

Recorded mintage: 4,412,000 (all types).

Specification: 27.07 g, .896 fine silver, .780 troy oz ASW.
