This specimen was lot 188 in Aureo & Calicó sale 238 (Barcelona, November 2011), where it sold for 286 euro (about US$454 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1811. Lima. JP. 8 reales. Busto indígena. Lazo pequeño. Rara así. EBC/EBC+. (eight reales of 1811, Lima mint, indigenous bust, small head, rare, extremely fine.)"This type was struck 1808-11 for Ferdinand VII and is quite scarce, despite the substantial recorded mintage. Eight reales dated 1811 are also known with the standard bust of Ferdinand; these are common. Assayer JP is recorded for 1803-23.
