This coin was minted in Lima, Peru, of a type struck 1809-11 using the "imaginary bust." This specimen was lot 3511 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $1,380. The catalog description[1] noted, "1811 JP 2 escudos. Lima mint. VF details (NCS). Types as above. Pale yellow gold with some subtle toning, cleaned and showing some hairlines but still appealing, curved striking flaw (lint mark) at chin. A scarce three-year type. From Stack's sale of the Col. James W. Flanagan Collection, March 1944, Lot 550."
