Sedwick sale 11, lot 146

The specimen shown was lot 146 in Sedwick sale 11 (Winter Park, FL, April 2011), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lima, Peru, bust 2 escudos, Charles IV, 1799IJ. XF with natural flaw above shoulder, scratch in front of face, hint of toning, scarce type." While eight escudos from Peru are reasonably available, the smaller gold denominations are all very scarce.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.77 g, .875 fine gold, .190 troy oz AGW, this specimen 6.7 grams.
