Aureo sale 232, lot 192
The specimen shown was lot 192 in Aureo y Calicó sale 232 (Barcelona, March 2011), where it sold for 420 euros (about $693 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"1763. Lima. JM. 8 reales. Columnario. Punto sobre las dos LMA. Dos pequeños resellos orientales. Bella. parte de brillo original. Escasa así. EBC+. (Eight reales of 1763, Lima mint, pillar type, dots over both mintmarks, two small chopmarks. Nice, some original luster, scarce thus, choice extremely fine.)
This date is recorded with two dots (KM A64.1, shown here) and with one dot only (KM A64.2, rare). Assayer JM is recorded for 1755-74.

Specification: 27.07 g, .917 fine silver, .798 troy oz ASW.
