Aureo sale 232, lot 1266
The specimen shown was lot 1266 in Aureo y Calicó sale 232 (Barcelona, March 2011), where it sold for 325 euros (about $536 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"Carlos III (1759-1788). 1762. Lima. JM. 4 reales. Columnario. Punto sobre las dos LMA. Rara. MBC (Charles III, 1759-88, four reales of 1762, Lima mint, pillar type, dots over both mintmarks, rare, very fine.)
This date is recorded with two dots; unlike the eight reales, no single dot varieties are recorded. It is a common date for a rather scarce type. Assayer JM is recorded for 1755-74.

Specification: 13.54 g, .917 fine silver, .399 troy oz ASW.
