This coin was lot 8692 in Ponterio sale 150 (Los Angeles, August 2009), where it sold for $1,753.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 2 Escudos, 1755-JM. First date of this scarce type. Light adjustment marks on reverse. CHOICE VERY FINE-ABOUT EXTREMELY FINE." The type was struck in Lima, Peru, 1755-60. It is much scarcer from Peru than from the Colombian mints. Assayer JM is recorded for 1751-72.
