Peru 1754-L JD 8 escudos
This specimen was lot 25249 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $2,990. The catalog description noted, "Ferdinand VI gold 8 Escudos 1754-JD, XF-AU with considerable original mint luster, lightly toned and original. An attractive example of this early type." This type is recorded for 1754-56 and is scarcer than the preceding type with the full-wigged bust of the king (KM 50). A slightly modified bust (KM 59.2) was used 1757-60.
