Aureo sale 242, lot 142
The specimen shown was lot 142 in Aureo y Calico sale 242 (Barcelona, March 2012), where it sold for 8,500 € (about $13,197 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Carlos II (1665-1700). 1700. Lima. H. 8 escudos. Rev.: L- 8 -H / P -V -A / 7-0-0. Preciosa pátina. Muy bella. Rara y más así. EBC-. (Charles II (1665-1700), eight escudos of 1700, Lima mint. Lustrous, very handsome, rare thus, nearly extremely fine.)"
This eight escudos was struck 1696-1701 in very limited numbers.

Reported Mintage: 10,350.

Specification: 27.07 g, .917 fine gold, .798 troy oz ASW.
