Papal States KM-1236 rev Tom F.jpg

This type was issued 1793-99 and seems to be the only issue of this denomination. It does not fit the quasidecimal system adopted in 1740 (ten baiocchi = one giulio, ten giulio = one scudo). It may have been intended to be a double testone (one testone = thirty baiocchi). A scarce variety (KM 1236.1) shows the date as 1769.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 16.14 g, .917 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 1236, Ber-2973.
