Papal States KM-1235 rev Tom F.jpg

This type was issued 1793 only for Pius VI (1774-99) from the Rome mint and accompanies the similar four (KM 1211) and twelve baiocchi (KM 1252) of the same year. It is the only issue of this denomination and does not fit the quasidecimal system adopted in 1740 (ten baiocchi = one giulio, ten giulio = one scudo). It is rather scarce.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.68 g, .917 fine silver (billon per Berman[1]).

Catalog reference: KM 1235, Ber-2980.
