Papal St Dav-1439 rev Tom F.jpg

This date is a one year type struck in Ferrara in 1708, one of four different piastri struck there during the reign of Clement XI. While quite scarce, this is the only one not extremely rare. The SCWC incorrectly lists this as half a piastra when it is not. The piastra was the Italian equivalent of the German thaler.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 32.07 g, .917 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Ber-2476, KM 103 (listed under Ferrara), Davenport-1439.
