This specimen was lot 40645 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $1,495. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Papal States. Piastra, Year 6 (1706). NGC EF-40. Clement XI (1700-21). Reverse depicts papal audience. Intricately detailed." This date is a one year type struck in 1705 or 1706, depending on your source. Dav-1434 is very similar but has the obverse legend starting on the right. The piastra was the Italian equivalent of the German thaler.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 32.07 g, .917 fine silver. The SCWC lists the weight as 13.21 g, which is manifestly wrong.

Catalog reference: Dav-1435; KM-677; Berm-2382; Mutoni III-45.
