This type was minted in 1690 as a sede vacante issue after the death of Alexander VII. The SCWC lists two different mezzi grossi for 1690-91, both sede vacante issues but does not provide photos for either of them. The mezzo grosso was two and a half baiocchi, while the piastra, the Italian equivalent of the German thaler, was 105 baiocchi (3½ testone).
