This specimen was lot 21260 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Papal States. Vatican City. Giulio, ND (1722). Innocent XIII. NGC MS-64. Carefully preserved and exceptionally toned with splashes of blue, green mauve and gold tone over glinting surfaces. A superb presentation! Once appearing in an Astarte S.A. auction in May 2006 where it brought 1,600 CHF hammer (approximately $1,300 at the time). Ex: NAC 14, October 1998, lot 1181." The giulio was ten baiocchi, while the piastra, the Italian equivalent of the German thaler, was 105 baiocchi (3½ testone).
