Kunker sale 263, lot 1086
This specimen was lot 1086 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €29,000 (about US$37,462 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"OSTFRIESLAND, GRAFSCHAFT, Ulrich II. 1628-1648. 1 1/2facher Reichstaler o. J. (1631), Esens, auf seine Huldigung. DEO * CONFID (Wappen) NON * TIMEBO (Wappen) Q3 V FACIAT (Wappen) MIHI * HOMO (Wappen) Reiter mit erhobenem Schwert auf einem nach r. springenden Roß im Hintergrund Stadt und Hafenansicht von Emden//r DA * PACEM * DOMINE * IN * DIEBUS * NOSTRIS Weibliche Gestalt sitzt fast v. v. mit Palmzweig und Merkurstab, im Hintergrund Kaufleute und Waren sowie Hafen mit Schiffen. Dav-366 (dort unter Enno III); Von größter Seltenheit. Attraktives Exemplar mit hübscher Patina, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (County of Ostfriesland, Ulrich II, 1628-48, 1½ thaler without date. Obverse: armored knight brandishing a sword charges to right, over a view of the city and harbor of Emden; reverse: Female figure seated with palm leaf and caduceus; in the background merchants and goods as well as harbor with ships. Of the greatest rarity, attractive example with handsome toning, very fine to extremely fine.)"
With the exception of Dav-7122, all the issues from this windswept locality are rare. The SCWC shows no photo.
