This specimen was lot 661 in Ponterio sale 182 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $705. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Osnabruck. Taler, 1633. NGC AU Details--Mount Removed. Struck under Swedish occupation. Lightly toned, a few stray hairlines behind head and thin planchet crack at 8 o'clock." This coin was issued by the bishopric of Osnabruck while under Swedish occupation and comes in five varieties, Dav-4551 thru Dav-4556. The bishopric was later merged with the bishopric of Munster and both were annexed to Hannover in 1803.
