This specimen was lot 2431 in Sincona sale 11 (Zurich, May 2013), where it sold for 16,000 CHF (about US$19,809 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Olmütz, Bistum Karl II. von Liechtenstein-Castelcorno, 1664-1695. 2 Dukaten 1680, Kremsier. CAROL-D:G-EPS-OLOMVCENSIS-DVX S-R-I-PCEPS-Büste nach rechts im reich verzierten geistlichen Gewand. Auf der Brust ein Kreuz an Perlenkette. Rv. RE-CA-BO-TE-DE LIECHTENSTAIN CO Verziertes vierfeldiges Stiftswappen; in der Mitte das Familienwappen. Zu den Seiten halten Adler Krummstab links und Schwert rechts. Oben Inful und Fürstenhut, darüber Jahreszahl. Gutes vorzüglich. Ex Auktion UBS 66, September 2006, Lot 1529. Ex Auktion Hess/Leu 42, Luzern, 17. Juni 1969, Lot 704. (bishopric of Olmutz, Charles II of Liechtenstein-Castelcorno, 1664-95, double ducat of 1680, Kremsier mint. Obverse: bust right in clerical vestments and collar; reverse: Fourfold arms of Oben Krummstab, Inful, Fürstenhut and Schwert, with bishop's crozier to left and sword to right. Good extremely fine, from UBS auction 66, lot 1529 (September 2006).)"
This type issued 1672-93 is among the rare issues from this ecclesiastical state in Moravia, then part of Austria, now the Czech Republic. Later thalers from the 1720's are listed quite inexpensively.
