This specimen was lot 678 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $2,350. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Nurnberg. Taler, 1779-KR. Joseph II (1764-90). NGC MS-63. Lovely toning with an excellent strike and surfaces." This type is listed for 1765, 1768 and 1779 and is among the later thalers from the city, which was annexed to Bavaria about 1802.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
