Sincona sale 26, lot 2766
This specimen was lot 2766 in Sincona sale 26 (Zurich, October 2015), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$741 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Nurnberg, Taler 1765. Mit Randschrift. Fast vorzüglich. Kratzer im Feld im Avers. Randverprägung. (Germany, city of Nurnberg, thaler of 1765, with lettered edge. Choice extremely fine, scratches in obverse field.)"
This type one of two city view thalers struck in Nurnberg in 1765. It was reissued in 1768 and 1779.
