Sincona sale 26, lot 2707
This specimen was lot 2707 in Sincona sale 26 (Zurich, October 2015), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,100 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Nurnberg, Taler 1631. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Germany, city of Nurnberg, thaler of 1631, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This one year type with the portrait of emperor Ferdinand II is scarce, bordering on rare. The date is buried as a chronogram in the obverse motto.
