Kunker sale 264, lot 1970
This specimen was lot 1970 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €3,600 (about US$4,651 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"KÖNIGREICH Christian V. 1670-1699. Speciedaler 1695, Kongsberg. Ausbeute. Mit Randschrift: (Hammer und Schlägel gekreuzt) HÆC BOREAS CYMBRO FERT ORNAMENTA LABORUM. RR Attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Patina, fast vorzüglich. (kingdom of Norway, Christian V, 1670-99, speciedaler of 1695, Kongsberg mint, for the mines, lettered edge. Rare, attractive toning, choice extremely fine.)"
This type is listed for 1693-96 and all dates are scarce. The Kongsberg mint used seven different edge legends, some very rare; this one, "HÆC BOREAS CYMBRO FERT ORNAMENTA LABORUM", commands no premium.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28.89 g, .875 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-3661; Ahlström 175 A; Müseler 14.1/10. KM-194.
