This specimen, struck for Nicaragua by the Mexico City mint for the Sandinista regime, honors Augusto Sandino, chief of the rebels resisting the Yankees in the 1920's. He was captured and murdered by Somoza in 1934. This coin is common and is accompanied by a fifty centavos.

Recorded mintage: 10,000,000.

Specification: copper-nickel.
