The first specimen was lot 24485 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 50 Cordobas 1967-HF, PL66 NGC, Ruben Dario, exceptionally nice for this issue." This type was struck in Switzerland for Nicaragua to honor the centenary of the birth of poet Ruben Dario. It was the first gold coin of Nicaragua.

Recorded mintage: 16,000.

Specification: 35.6 g, .900 fine gold, 1.030 troy oz AGW.
