Nicaragua 1939 50 centavos
This specimen is the first date of a type issued 1939, 1946, 1950-56, 1965 and 1972-74. It superseded a silver type minted 1912 and 1929. The type is common in circulated condition. In 1967, the brutal and corrupt Luis Somoza died of a heart attack and was succeeded by his brutal, corrupt and incompetent brother, Anastasio, with baleful consequences for Nicaragua.
