This specimen is from a type struck 1912-40 for Nicaragua, and is among the scarcer early dates. The late twenties marked a period of anarchy for Nicaragua, ending in the early thirties when the U.S. connived at the takeover of power by Somoza.

Recorded mintage: 500,000.
