This specimen was lot 1961 in Classical Numismatic Group's auction of the Robert Lissner collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $54.45. The catalog description[1] noted, "NICARAGUA, Republic. 1838-pres. Æ 1/2 Centavo. Philadelphia mint. Dated 1917. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 63 BN. Lovely evenly toned over light chocolate brown surfaces. Only coin of the date graded." This type was struck 1912-17, 1922-24, 1934-37 and is fairly common.

Recorded mintage: 720,000.

Specification: bronze, 17 mm diameter, this specimen Ø16 mm, 2.44 g, 6h axis.
