Milan 1777 mezzo soldo rev Goldberg 74-4849.jpg

This specimen was lot 4849 in Goldberg sale 74 (Los Angeles, June 2013), where it sold for $184 including buyer's fees. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italian States - Milan. ½ Soldo, 1777. Copper. Maria Theresa. Trace of mint red. NGC graded MS-61 Brown." This type was struck 1776-79 and is priced fairly low in the SCWC but it is likely scarcer than it appears, especially in nice condition. Half a soldo was one fortieth of a lira.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.66-4.13 g, copper, 21 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-184.
