Mexico 1919 peso rev DSLR.jpg

This specimen is from a type struck 1918-19 at the Mexico City mint (the last branch mint having closed in 1905). The previous type (KM 453, struck 1910-14) had more silver. The succeeding type, KM 455, struck 1920-45, was reduced to 16.66 g, 720 fine silver. This date takes a big price jump from About Uncirculated to Uncirculated; as such, slider specimens such as the one shown are never given the benefit of the doubt from the grading services.

Record mintage: 6,151,000.

Specification: 18.13 g, .800 fine silver, .466 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 454.
