This specimen was lot 11333 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Culiacan. Centavo, 1897-CN. NGC MS-64 BN. Large 'N' in mintmark. Sharply struck." This date is the first issue from Culiacan since 1881 and the last for the type. Large and small "N" varieties exist, of approximately equal value. It is common.

Recorded mintage: 300,000.

Specification: 8 g, copper, 25 mm diameter, reeded edge.
