This specimen was lot 11030 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 1/2 Pesos, 1891-MoM. Scarce date, only 188 were minted. Much prooflike luster. NGC MS-61." The type is also recorded from Culiacan, Durango, Guanajuato, Alamos, Hermosillo and Zacatecas but Mexico City is by far the most prolific issuer. The series, never popular, ended in 1893.
