This specimen was lot 24695 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,700. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 20 Pesos 1890 Mo-M, MS64 NGC, fully brilliant with flashy surfaces and minimal handling in the fields. Very scarce in this select quality. From the collection of Donald E. Bently, sold for the benefit of the Bently Foundation." Shown is an 1889MoM balance scale twenty pesos, of a type struck 1870-1905. This issue from Mexico City is among the more available dates. Other mints include Hermosillo, Culiacan, Durango, Zacatecas, Chihuahua, Guanajuato and Alamos.

Specification: 33.84 g, .875 fine gold, .952 troy oz AGW.
