Shown is an 1890CnM five centavos, of a type struck 1871-76 and 1886-97. This issue is a common date from Culiacan. Other mints include Alamos, Hermosillo, Durango, Zacatecas, Chihuahua, Guanajuato, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Oaxaca and Potosi. An 1890/9 overdate is recorded. The SCWC mentions assayer "D" (shown as the second specimen) as an error; the only assayer "D" in the decimal series are the 1892-95 ten centavos from Durango.

Specification: 1.35 g, .903 fine silver, .039 troy oz ASW.

Recorded Mintage: 180,000.
