This specimen was lot 5827 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $195.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico. 8 Reales, 1884-Go BR. Cap & Ray. Toned. NGC graded MS-63." The Guanajuato mint struck operated 1812-1900 and is one of the abundant mints for eight reales; this date is common in all grades. Overdates 84/74, 84/3 and 84/73 are known for assayer BR, none rare.

Recorded mintage: 4,733,000.

Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
