This specimen is a slightly scarce date of a series struck 1869-90 at the San Luis Potosi mint. Assayer "H" is recorded for 1874-85; assayer “E” is also known for 1879 but is very rare. There is also an overdate, 1879/8-Pi H. This twenty-five centavos piece replaced the two reales struck since colonial times. It, in turn, was replaced by a smaller twenty centavos piece in 1898.

Specification: 6.77 g, .903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Catalog reference: KM 406.8.
