This specimen was lot 71295 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Pesos, 1878/7-MoM. NGC MS-61. From a mintage of only 400 pieces. Obvious and clear 7 under the 8, and a curious arc at the base of the 7. Repunched M in the mintmark. Very well struck, Brilliant with soft satin luster."

Recorded mintage: 400, a better date.

Specification: 8.46 g, .875 fine gold, .238 troy oz AGW.
