Shown is an 1877-HoGR 8 reales, one of a type struck 1825-97. It was lot 7434 in Ponterio sale 152 (Baltimore, April 2010) where it sold for $258.75. The catalog description noted, "Dark toned. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED." Assayer GR (Guadalupe Rocha) is recorded at the Hermosillo mint for this year only. The mintage is not recorded but the date is quite scarce, being the rarest of the three assayers known for the date. The Hermosillo mint opened in 1835 and closed in 1895.

Recorded mintage: 410,000 (including assayers AF and JA).

Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
