This specimen was lot 11022 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $1,955. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Pesos, 1874-OaE. RARE date, only 2,205 pieces struck. Struck slightly off-center. Lightly cleaned long ago. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED. Ex: Mexico Maxico Collection, Stack's January 2010, lot #1410." Altho the Oaxaca mint produced this denomination steadily during 1870-88, only the first three dates, 1870-72, can be called common.

Recorded mintage: 2,205.

Specification: 16.92 g, .875 fine gold, .476 troy oz AGW.
