This specimen was lot 21297 in Ponterio sale 161 (Chicago, August 2011), where it sold for $7,475. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 20 Peso, 1874-Ho R. Hermosillo. VERY RARE Hermosillo 20 Peso. VERY RARE four year type, and this is the first year of issue for 20 Pesos from Hermosillo. This coin should be of particular interest to the type collector. It is the only Hermosillo 20 Pesos (of any date) that has achieved a numeric grade by NGC. While most examples that appear on the market have been cleaned, exhibiting heavy hairlines or are possibly even ex jewelry. The coin offered here is a nice wholesome example for the type. A few light marks and lines that are consistent for a coin in this state of preservation, well struck with full 'LIBERTAD' on the cap and some original luster remaining. Certified population 1 of 1 for the entire type. NGC AU-55."
