The first specimen was lot 2757 in Ponterio sale 164 (New York, January 2012), where it sold for $632.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guanajuato. 8 Reales, 1874/3-GoFR. Light attractive toning. NGC MS-65." The second specimen was part of lot 72519 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[2] noted, "MEXICO. Trio of 8 Reales (3 Pieces), 1856-74. Guanajuato Mint. All PCGS Gold Shield Certified. All Guanajuato Mint. ...3) 1874-Go FR. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, Unc Details. From the Sonoran Sunset Collection." The Guanajuato mint issued this type 1825-97 and most dates are readily available. The overdate 1874/3 is listed as more common than the regular date. Assayer FR is listed for 1870-78.
