The first specimen was lot 9841 in Ponterio sale 151 (Baltimore, November 2009), where it sold for $184. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 25 Centavos, 1874-CnP. Exceptional grade for this normally well worn date. Lightly cleaned ALMOST UNCIRCULATED." Many of the early Culiacan quarters are rare tho this date is more available than 1871-73 or 1875-78. Many dates of the balance scale twenty-five centavos are unknown in high grade.
