This specimen was lot 72627 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $223.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1874-CaMM. NGC MS-63. Frosty brilliant luster." This example is an eight reales from the Chihuahua mint, assayers M and M. The MM assayer combination ran from 1868 to 1895. Many of the coins minted this year were sent to China as trade dollars.
