This specimen was lot 6192 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $402.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Alamos. 8 Reales, 1874-DL. Nice strike, dark toned. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED." The Alamos mint struck eight reales 1864-95. Many of the early dates are rare but the 1874-A is fairly common. An overdate, 1874/3, is reported for the year.

Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
