This issue from Guanajuato is among the more available dates. However, specimens in uncirculated are rare and priced accordingly. Other mints include Hermosillo, Culiacan, Durango, Zacatecas, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Alamos and Potosi. The second specimen was lot 9181 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $195.50. The catalog description[1] noted, “MEXICO. Guanajuato. 50 Centavos, 1873-GoS. Toned, sharply struck. PCGS AU-55.”

Specification: 13.54 g, .903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.

Recorded mintage: 50,000.
